APSA has a Gay Problem

This week, the Australian National University (ANU) will host an excellent assemblage of scholars from across the nation for the Australian Political Studies Association (APSA) 2022 annual conference.

Many political studies topics will come up. One issue that I hope incoming-President Ariadne Vromen will address is the state of Australia’s trans and queer research, teaching, and funding.

I am concerned about the harassment of transgender lecturers, underfunding of queer scholarship, and a lack of an affirmative LGBTIQ+ agenda in politics in Australia.
